It is based in a religion older than Christianity. I love Halloween. If we had them, I'd probably love festivals(esp. if there were more of those a year than just one Halloween). The rest of them I only like because I get holiday breaks at school. Valentine's.. ugh. I don't celebrate it, and when it comes around, I always make sure I mention that I don't celebrate it, so no one expects anything from me. Doesn't always work though. I knew this one guy who knew I didn't celebrate it, but when it came around he was still upset I didn't get/do anything for him. He thought he was special to me or something. Like, thought I liked him so much that even though I didn't celebrate it, I would still do something for him...! Unfortunately he was wrong and I didn't get him anything.
