Everyone always hears about how secondhand smokers are suffering due to smokers, but no one really stops to think about their pets.

I didn’t think about it either until I read this article about secondhand smoke causing cancer in pets. Seems smoking is bad for everyone.

Both my parents smoke, however they only smoke outside.  Thankfully, this helps limit how much smoke I inhale. Our cats though, enjoy lounging around on the back porch - where my parents smoke. Meaning they’re inhaling all that secondhand smoke.

Unfortunately I never thought about the fact that animals get cancer too.

Just adds one for reason for people to not smoke. Thankfully I never have and never will.

Are you a smoker? How do you feel about smokers?

My parents have smoked since forever. They’ve quit twice, but it only lasted a couple months before they were full-time smokers again.

It really makes me lose faith in them when they keep giving up so easily. They complain when I want to buy something, but then they shell out $100+ for pills, only to start smoking again later.

And then they have excuses as to why it didn’t work this time, and how it will work better next time. But who knows when ‘next time’ is.

I *hate* smoke. My neighbor every night go on the balcony to smoke and I have to close all my windows..That’s very bad when you have a PC switched on :(
It’s melting here..not the pc, me!

It’s strange how attitudes to this have changed in just one generation - my parents smoked like chimneys when me and my sister were kids and nobody thought anything of it. By the time my sister had kids, they were casting dirty looks at her husband for smoking in the same house as the baby. Mind you, they never liked him. ;-)

Yeah, when my parents where younger - heck even when I was younger - smoking was ‘cool’ Everyone did it, and it was seen as a normal thing.

But I guess now that more people are getting affected by it - even if they don’t smoke - they’re not so accepting of it now.

These days if you’re a smoker, everyone and their dog will tell you that smoking is a nasty habit.

Thankfully my parents never smoked inside after my doctor - when I was a baby - told my parents it was safer for me if they smoked outside.

Is it true that nowadays there are more women smoking than men?

Comment by ki:ten

I haven’t heard that, but it might be true?
